Normally Open solenoid valves popularly identified as "NO" valves are better choice where water flow need to be stopped ONLY in certain conditions. Normally closed valves - popularly known as "NC" valves consumes power continously to keep valve ON where as NORMALLY OPEN valves need power to shut off valve.

These valves are made from tough engineering plastics hence offers very long life. Because they are made from plastics cost of these valve is far less than equivellent metallic valves still offers equal or better performance. Internal pilot offers compact package.
